The vision of UrbanPromise Arkansas is to be a community in Christ of servant leadership and transformation, seeking a full life for all involved: urban youth, families, volunteers, and staff in the neighborhoods of our cities.

UrbanPromise began in Camden, NJ as a place for at-risk children and teens to receive academic, spiritual, and personal support. Since then, the model has spread to Wilmington, DE, Toronto, Miami, Malawi, Honduras, and other cities.

Kristin Walker, a graduate of North Little Rock High School and ASU-Jonesboro, served at UrbanPromise in Wilmington, Delaware for eight years.  The experience radically changed her life as she witnessed transformation in her life and others' through this community in Christ. In May 2016, she returned home to bring this amazing ministry to the cities of central Arkansas, starting with the Baring Cross neighborhood of North Little Rock.

UP Arkansas held its second summer camp this past summer using the facility of ACTS ministries at 1224 Franklin St. We enrolled thirty 1st-5th graders and employed six high school students for a high quality six week program.  We had four young adult interns and were blessed to be able to provide meals through the Arkansas Dream Center!

The after-school program will continue in September.  Children will particpate in Bible lessons, basketball or cheerleading, homework help, and fun trips! We have six high school students employed as StreetLeaders. They receive weekly tutoring, participate in Bible studies, and are a critical part of running our program. We are still located at ACTS ministries and would love to have more volunteers!! If you're interested in being a part, please contact Kristin at Kristin@urbanpromise.org.

Kristin's favorite verse is 1st John 4:12 - "No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another His love is in us and is made complete in us."  This verse sums up UrbanPromise so well - as we love one another, God shows up and does something beautiful.  What a blessing to be a part of His Beautiful Love and story.  I hope you'll join us as we let His Light shine in the Baring Cross neighborhood!
